![]() ![]() Combine that with their research into actual modern science (which seems to be blurring those lines, lately) and we have a background for the game that will seem both plausible and fantastical. With research based on reading the works of Isaac Asimov, Arthur C Clarke, Ray Bradbury and Robert Heinlein (among others) it seems that the game will be solidly rooted in science fiction cannon. ![]() It’s been a real pleasure to read all of the written work by members of the team. We have a lot of sci-fi fans on staff as well as lots of talented writers. It was also great fun for us to create fiction. We wanted to provide information to the player that explains what exactly these new things are about. So what sort of things can we look forward to?Įverything is new in Beyond Earth including new technologies, aliens, and resources just to name a few. Of course, there’s a lot more leeway seeing as its based on the future instead of the past. Games by Firaxis have always been about setting the stage and giving players the props to act out their own story.ĭon’t worry, there will still be the Civilopedia to add to the lore – Firaxis has several writers working on the history and fiction of the game. Playing through the game will provide a lot of insight as to what the event could be, but we don’t outright say what happened. We want them to discover the backstory by playing through the game and using their imagination. The Great Mistake is a mysterious event that is partly interpretive to the player. There has to be a stick to go with this carrot, and we’re aware that there was a ‘Great Mistake’ that spurred these voyages on – so what was the mistake? In a Q&A over on the 2K blog, the developers explain that Civilization: Beyond Earth takes place after the typical Civ game – some societies have flourished while others have floundered, but either way it’s time to focus on space and move on from Earth. Playing against Egypt? Sucks to be you, I’m building the pyramids first! The new Civilization will be taking us into the future, and into space – so how does lore figure into things? I learned the hard way.I love stealing World Wonders in Civilization. Example 3.5gh all core with better ram timings might result in 74ns in your settings while 4.4boost on worse might result in 75 and you might think it not worth while if not noticing clock is not locked. Yes I agree to use PBO once done but ns latency depends on clock speed also so if not locked clock you will see caring results. ![]() Also when you test lock the clock speed to whatever you want 3.5 or 4.0 all core whatever your cooling solution. Of course there is a point of reminiscing. ![]() If you buy fancy $300 4000c15 kit you can get about 62-63 ns. If not best to keep it 3600 or 3200 wherever you can keep the ns latency at 75 or lower. 3800ish should be 17 17 17 at worse case. Then install aida64 and check your ram latency. It gives my 3950x 1.45v in voltage or more in bios doing nothing. I have this motherboard auto voltage sucks. Ryzen max settings 4.4ghz: min: 74 max:95 avg:82 Here are some benchmarks that I was able to gather: I have tried increasing base CPU clock speed while trying to control thermals - to do so I deactivated simultaneous multi-threading - basically turning my 3900x into a 12C/12T again similar results as before - not a noticeable difference in frames but temps were better when running at 12C/12T. From those tests I noticed a little bit of improved performance but it was only one or two frames in most scenarios. I have tried changing CPU and RAM clocks, as well as timings. In some games my Ryzen CPU has performed worse or the at the same level. I have recently upgraded my CPU from an intel i5 4690K 4C/4T which was OCed to 4.5 Ghz. Dropped a a few frames across the board because of different OC settings with PBO fresh start did not help fix the issues.ģ2GB dual channel DDR4 3600mhz CL16-19-19-39 32GB - have tested different timings and clocks. I disabled my OC settings and turned on just PBO results are worse than the ones I had earlier. ETA: As per multiple user recommendations, I’ve reinstalled windows and all drivers to have a fresh start. ![]()
